Arkady Gaidar - Selected Stories

Arkady Petrovich Gaidar wrote many books for children. They are all known and loved in his homeland. His real name was Golikov, but for his books he chose the pseudonym Gaidar, which means the horseman or scout sent on ahead of the patrol. Gaidar always wanted to be one such scout for his country, but his life was cut short by war. He was killed while serving with the army as a front line reporter on the 26 October 1941 during a battle with the Nazis. But his books live on to inspire the young with their message of duty, loyalty and friendship.
